"Sacred Mt. Shasta"
My first time at Mt. Shasta was July, 1989 and I happened along for a gathering of the Tribes. I spent the weekend at Panther Meadows at the sweat lodge and otherwise absorbing the Indian culture. This is Jack Thom Jr. playing the guitar by the fire. There were drummers and much more, but I wanted to focus this painting on the simplicity of native culture and the Mountain, the most sacred place in the culture. I was reading JFK's "The Strategy of Peace" and Jack turned me on to John Trudell on this magical weekend that changed my life in a profound way.
