"Above the Mouth of the Sao Francisco River"
The Sao Francisco is the longest river that runs entirely in Brazilian territory, and the fourth longest in South America and overall in Brazil (after the Amazon, the Paraná and the Madeira). It used to be known as the Opara by the indigenous people before colonisation. Approximately 180 fish species are known from the São Francisco River basin. The Paulo Afonso power plant was built between Bahia and Alagoas in 1955 and now provides electricity for the whole of Northeastern Brazil. I love the blue green color of the water against the white sand beach and dark green landscape. Notice the violets, blues, and wine red accents that define the topography of the landscape.
